Photograph of Michelle When I was 4 or 5 I attended a small town Canadian vacation Bible school. I had grown up in the church so when the kids were asked if we wanted to accept Jesus to live in our lives, I said, "Yes." From that time on, I felt that Jesus was my best friend. Much to the embarrassment of my family, I would sing "I have decided to follow Jesus" in public places at a loud volume.

At about 10 years of age, I felt the call of God to be a missionary. I loved to tell others of Christ. I thought missionary women were either wives, nurses or teachers, and I loved kids so I prepared to be a teacher.

Since I became a Christian at a young age, I never fully understood grace until I became a missionary first in Malaysia and now in Taiwan. I always thought I was a good Christian and wasn't God lucky to have me. Living cross-culturally really brings out the sin nature. I found that I was very much a sinner in need of grace.

I have taught in mission schools for 8 years, and today I am on a church planting team reaching working class Taiwanese. As I see them bowing down to idols, I desire for them to know the God who hears, understands and loves them.

I have always loved photography. Now I use it to communicate the needs of the Taiwanese to my prayer supporters. I also am part of a puppet club that gets together to take photos of Taiwanese Pili puppets. My vision is to one day see these puppets used to tell Bible stories.
