Nickname: Egil
I was brought up by Christian parents and have always believed in Christ. As Evangelical Lutherans, my parents had my five brothers and me baptized as babies, and worship was a natural part of our family life. I think Jesus has always been in my heart, but I did of course come to a point in time when I had to decide whether to keep on following Him or not. In my early teens that was.
After finishing my religious education and media teacher education in 1986, I have served God by teaching and working in Christian evangelical schools and organisations, and by being a husband and father to two children.
Growing up and getting a family and a job mean new personal and professional challenges all the way. Living in a materialistic, individualistic and media-saturated culture (with ever-developing technology and an increasing number of ethical issues) is very challenging as well. Our minds and thoughts are persecuted all the time, and I have learnt that I really need Jesus for forgiveness and continuous guidance. "And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:7.
So whatever I am doing I hope to be in God's plan for my life. A keen photographer I have thus been looking for ways to serve and glorify God through my images, mainly taken of nature and landscapes. I also see a purpose for my pictures of God’s wonderful creation in terms of apologetics, hoping they can help take away the veil of Darwinism from people’s eyes so that they might see Jesus through whom all things were made.
Just like news story images need captions to be interpreted correctly, we need God’s Word to really understand what we see around us. And just as a news image catches the reader’s attention and forwards it to the caption, it is my desire that my photographs will forward people’s attention to the Word of God. As I was searching the Internet for sisters and brothers in Christ sharing the same vision, I was very happy to come across PhotoMission.
