Timothy - Malawi
Nickname: Tim
I am grateful to God that I was brought up by parents who love God and so naturally, I decided to follow after Him. I was five years old when I made that decision. However, there was much to learn (and still is) between 1978 and my later years.
Most of my childhood was spent in a sheltered environment, going to Christian school and participating in church activities in the southern United States.
As a teen, I began attending public school and enjoyed the vast array of people and beliefs I came across. Yet while I was firm in my faith, I did little to share it with others.
During college (a Christian one in the Midwest), I was challenged to be much more committed to Christ; and while attending basic training and tech school for the United States Air Force (as an Air National Guardsman), I found that I felt quite weak in my faith and was eager to continue growing spiritually while at school.
During those years, I became more interested in sharing Christ with others and began to see some fruit, even doing several short-term missions trips that put a desire in my heart to serve God overseas long-term.
Upon graduation and getting married that same week, my wife and I moved to the southwestern United States where we began to actively pursue what God would have for us internationally. While working for http://www.ChristianAnswers.net as a webmaster and content writer for seven years, we spent time in the Philippines for just over a year.
Upon returning home, we began to focus on where God was calling us next: Africa.
In 2003, our family of five moved to Central/East Africa where we joined a church-planting group that works among an animistic/Muslim group. We're loving it! My love for photography and video production is coming in very useful for our team (as they share with others what kind of work we are doing), and as we continue to learn the local language. We are excited to see how we can help God's desire to have all nations (people groups) come to know Jesus!
