DUAL ART EXHIBITS ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF INDIA'S OPPRESSED

Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, USA - Three members of PhotoMission welcomed guests at an opening reception for two art exhibits in Denver, Colorado, November 16th. The exhibits combine photography taken in India by professional photographers, Vic Moss and Jason K. Powers, with paintings, textiles and jewelry made by India's oppressed and underprivileged people.

Mr. Moss and Mr. Powers joined Ghani Zaman of Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India, who traveled to the United States to promote the culture of North East India where he has worked for more than twenty years. Three years ago, God advanced the work when a short-term missions team from PhotoMission traveled to the village of Yimjenkimong in Nagaland. It was while serving together in 2004 that Zaman and Powers formed a bond of friendship, and they subsequently established the North East India Project, www.TheIndiaProject.com. Today, the mission they share encourages people living in remote villages to preserve their heritage and become self-sustaining communities.

Naga Art - In the late 19th Century, the Gospel came to North East India and changed the lives of many who had been headhunters.

Mr. Moss first traveled to India in 2005 where God began to grow his understanding of the plight of the Dalits (The Untouchables). Since then, Moss has used his photography to support their quest for religious freedom, social justice, and human rights by making his work available to organizations in India and the United States. His photography has been part of PhotoMission since 2006.

All proceeds from the exhibits benefit the humanitarian endeavors of the Dalit Freedom Network and the North East India Project.

The exhibits continue through January 11, 2008 at The Gallery at 910, www.thegalleryat910.com on Santa Fe Drive in Denver.
