News ReleaseDated: June-5-2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Connie Wragge, Ministry Team Leader & President PHOTOGRAPHERS DOCUMENT GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER (GDOP) Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, USA - On June 4, 2006, eleven photographers from PhotoMission joined millions of other Christians for a worldwide gathering of God's people where they helped record the Global Day of Prayer, www.globaldayofprayer.com. In what has become an international day of worship, the PhotoMission team covered the planet from Auckland, New Zealand in the east to Modesto, California in the west. Plans for the photographers were arranged in advance by Dawie and Isebel Spangenberg who serve as the worldwide GDOP coordinators. Several of the world's largest gatherings were photographed including those held in Singapore, Toronto and Dallas. In other gatherings in Lagos, Nigeria and Macapa, Brazil, the photographers were additionally involved to help organize a prayer group in their city. From 45,000 people gathered in Cape Town in 2001 where the vision for this day first began - to an estimated 200 million people praying in 156 countries last year - the Global Day of Prayer continues to gain spiritual momentum. This year, Christ's followers in 198 countries publicly acknowledged God's reign and sovereignty over the earth with an estimated attendance of 400 million people worldwide.
